Description
In the last decade, interest in learning Mochica increased in schools in Lambayeque (Alvarado, 2018; Tavera, 2022) and La Libertad (SolTV, 2024). This favorable context for the revitalization of the language contrasts with the scarcity of teaching materials and resources aimed at children. For this reason, Apeñ Muchik - Aprendo Mochica was created, a book that incorporates aspects of ancestral culture through illustrations for coloring. In this presentation, we pay special attention to the criteria considered in the organization and creation of the book: thematic units, lexical selection, the alphabet, and pronunciation. The goal is to share some reflections on the challenges faced in the process of creating a book for a language without native speakers.
