Project Details

Description

In the construction industry there are emerging a host of new ICT and e-business solutions, although most construction firms choose not to be early adopters of these innovations. Two fifths of all Finnish people live in single-family houses, but fewer are building their homes by themselves and instead buy a detached house packages. The industry for prefabricated (timber) houses is the focus of the study, by examining the strategic decision-making surrounding the adoption of ICT in this industry. The research is combined in a content-context-process framework where the adoption is analysed from a four-level strategic perspective, where barriers, resources and benefits reinforce or inhibit adoption.
