Abstract
Apeñ muchik apkopkærro pæn is a digital, open-access manual produced as part of the Social Responsibility Project of the Universidad Nacional Pedro Ruiz Gallo (UNPRG), “Revival of the Mochica language and culture: use of didactic material and teacher training in the Lambayeque region (Rectoral Resolution No. 056-2025-R, January 22, 2025).
Apeñ Muchik Apkopkærro Pæn – Apeñ Muchik for Teachers is a pedagogical manual designed to support educators who wish to incorporate the Mochica language into their teaching contexts. It was conceived as a complement to the book Apeñ Muchik – I Learn Mochica (Eloranta & Chávez Tovar, 2025), an illustrated coloring book that introduces basic vocabulary and structures of the Mochica language through images representing cultural elements of northern Peru.
The purpose of this manual is to provide practical, clear, and motivating tools so that teachers can integrate Mochica into the classroom through simple activities, contextualized exercises, and accessible explanations. It is designed to be adaptable to various levels, from early education to secondary school, as well as in non-formal learning environments such as community workshops or cultural revival projects.
Mochica, the ancestral language of Peru’s northern coast, is today the focus of renewed interest. Bringing it into the school setting not only promotes its revival but also strengthens cultural identity.
