Abstract

This paper explores opportunities of broadening research agenda of sustainability in public procurement by contextualizing it to cleantech sector. The objectives include examination of cleantech as a distinct sector by systematic literature review and consequent synthesis of the findings with the main avenues of public procurement research. The results suggest that cleantech is conducive to the delivery of vague sustainability goals to measurable metrics and can be helpful in enhancing research on public procurement of innovations, addressing societal benefits through local development and investigating better access of small and medium-sized enterprises to public contracts through intermediaries, networks and publicprivate partnerships.
