Abstract
Export partner groups can facilitate cooperation among small and medium-sized enterprises with the intention of internationalisation. The logic behind export partner groups is that cooperation should improve the competitive strength. In a group the companies can pool their resources and share costs and risks. In the article factors that impact the results of export partner groups are analysed. Three groups were studied. The results show that the concept is working, but there is room for improvement. A central factor is the compatibility of the companies, which deserves attention when organising export partner groups. A customer- or a system oriented organisation takes
compatibility into consideration better than a market oriented organisation.
