Abstract
This article offers new information about Fernando de la Carrera, author of the Arte de la lengua yunga (Lima, 1644). It also comments on some grammatical aspects of the Mochica language recorded in this missionary grammar. Above all, emphasis is placed on some innovations by the author, who deviates from the established Greco-Latin model of grammatical description of the time.
