Abstract

This is an opinion published in the daily newspaper Pohjalainen. It reacts against an article in Pohjalainen puhlished on 25 April 2012 in which a director of the Finnish inventors' foundation (Keksintösäätiö) was quoted saying that Ostrobothnians (region around Vaasa, Finland) are clearly less innovative than people elsewhere in Finland. In this opinion I show that - according to official patenting statistics - the claim is manifestly untrue.
