My current research is focused on promoting 'circular economy principles in the humanitarian sector'. It aims to enhance sustainability and efficiency within critical constraints. This research addresses the pertinent need to innovate solutions to improve resources and support sustainable development, particularly in response to humanitarian crises. 

This research intends to assist policymakers in developing a rational circular humanitarian framework to address the increasing need for humanitarian aid appropriations. With the rising frequency of disasters, the overall humanitarian budget is growing annually. Finland is committed to allocating about 10% of its development aid appropriations to humanitarian aid each year. However, in recent years, this share has been nearly 15%, underscoring the importance of applying circularity principles. This research not only aids policymakers but also benefits Finnish industries by helping them integrate circularity into their operations, positioning them as leaders in this sector. Ultimately, it tends to save significant amounts in humanitarian aid by creating a comprehensive industrial framework for suppliers and humanitarian agencies. This approach will also help Finnish policymakers and their global counterparts revisit and refine their humanitarian aid appropriation policies. It also brings some unique perspective to practitioners to identify the challenges and opportunities in adopting Circular Economy principles in humanitarian operations and demonstrates a strong theoretical foundation by evolving a circular framework, which can be used by other countries and even open a new theme of research for coming years.
