Projektinformation

Beskrivning

Employers have both obligations and the practical need to gather and use data about job applicants. Both legal norms and the different objectives of the employer companies motivate this interest in information. In their overlapping capacities as employees and citizens people have the right to fair treatment and personal privacy. This is recognised in several international and national legal sources, i.a. the EC directive 95/46 and the new corresponding Finnish law on personal information registration. The purpose of this project is to examine the regulation of privacy mainly in pre-employment screening. Case histories will be examined in the light of discussing the balancing between different legal values and possible interpretations.
