Sammanfattning
This study examines the conceptualisation and classification of disruptive events within the European transport network, focusing on differing stakeholder definitions and developing a typology for such events. Data was gathered through focus groups and expert interviews with respondents from eight European countries. The study finds a lack of consensus on what constitutes a disruptive event. Participants found categorising disruptions by cause—like technological failures or natural disasters—most intuitive. Understanding causes is important for effective mitigation and resilience. The developed typology considers multiple dimensions of disruptive events. The definition of disruptive events is expanded to include planned events.
